Email apnea?

In the November 23, 2009 Huffington Post, well known writer Linda Stone in her "Just Breathe: Building the case for Email Apnea" stated that "Dr. Margaret Chesney, at the National Institute of Health (NIH).

Research conducted by Chesney and NIH research scientist, Dr. David Anderson, demonstrated that breath holding contributes significantly to stress-related diseases. The body becomes acidic, the kidneys begin to re-absorb sodium, and as the oxygen (O2), carbon dioxide (CO2), and nitric oxide (NO) balance is undermined, our biochemistry is thrown off. Think posture as well.

Each Optimal Breathing Mastery Kit includes ALL of the themes. Choose the theme you prefer now and change it over time if and when your goals change.

* "Drugs do not provide a real solution to the problem of insomnia. In fact, sleep inducing medications are so ineffective in any real sense that it difficult to understand why there continues to be such an overwhelming demand for them". Deepak Chopra, Restful Sleep

"Holding our breath during the conscious state is no different from the problem of sleep apnea with episodes of not breathing--except for the fact that the highest consumption of oxygen occurs during REM sleep as we noted above and sleep time is therefore the time when we can least afford a cessation of breathing." So You Didn't Go To Medical School. Read this. Joseph L  Borkson, MD

Singing to cure sleep apnea?

It’s a little known fact that singing can cure obstructive sleep apnea – but only if your OSA is caused by weak or flabby muscles in your upper airway. If your apnea is caused solely by a structural problem (such as a nasal blockage, e.g. a deviated septum), singing therapy is much less likely to help you. Our Mastery Kit Theme #8 includes several singing exercises, any of  which can improve this kind of apnea. For the other types of apnea home in on the Sleep Booklet in the Supplemental CD of the Mastery Kit.

I was amazed to learn how much benefit can be gained in chronic diseases such as sleep, asthma, angina, emphysema, anxiety, and insomnia thru the application of Optimal Breathing strategies.

On numerous occasions I have thought of you, thinking I should do a better job of thanking you for your help. Seems like I have always had these thoughts at the wrong time. At any rate, now is the time.

First, I want you to know I really am grateful both for your initial help via email and the Skype sessions, and the face to face time we had in Charlotte.

It is quite possible that I would be using CPAP today had I not had your input/ help. As you may recall, I saw you at the very beginning of 2012. The prior four months had been probably the most challenging of my life due to the battle with acute insomnia. My breathing concern was certainly part of that battle.

I think of 2012 as one of the best, if not the best, year of my life. The sleep issues have pretty much become history. My breathing anxiety has dramatically receded.

Personal, family, and work life are going well and I exercise regularly.

As I look back on my ordeal, I believe it was primarily spiritual. God wanted to break through and penetrate and reveal more of Himself to me. It took something fairly dramatic for my mind to be open to this.

You were helpful to me and I do want to express my appreciation.

Hope you are doing well.

I am now of course still practicing proper breathing (50 years of bad habits), off meds, and have not awaked at night even once since starting the tapes and getting private instruction from Michael.

The day I had my first experience with the Video 176 I had to use my inhaler eight times. Since then I stopped needing my inhaler altogether for three weeks. Before that I had been using it every day. My energy is going way up as well.

Learning to breathe under the guidance of Mike White has not only saved my life but profoundly altered its quality....The relief from asthma turned out to be only an introduction into fuller and more vibrant participation in life. In the process of learning to breathe more deeply and easily, old fears and insecurities are beginning to dissolve. I am discovering the joyful calm that supports life at its base.
